Dom & Elly - Cawood Park Wedding
Since first speaking with Elly and Dom, I got a real sense that they were happy for me to shoot the wedding true to my own natural style and it’s this relaxed and free attitude that really set the tone for their special day.
I began the day by having a lengthy stroll around the town as I really wanted to set the scene for Cawood, it’s such a quaint and sweet place to live and it’s also home to Elly and Dom so definitely worth photographing.
Following this, I joined Elly at her sister’s house to photograph her getting ready, she introduced me to her bridesmaids, and did the final touches to her dress, a beautiful anti-gravity piece.
Ellie Ryder’s makeup and hairstyling created a style that was very glowy and radiant which drew attention to her natural beauty, whilst the hairstyle took advantage of her long, thick hair to create a dramatic low bun that drew references from her experience in beauty pageants. Elly’s dad arrived and was moved by seeing Elly ready for her big day by, and with this I headed to the church to meet them later on.
I’m really fond of the All Saints Church in Cawood and for its size, it has a remarkable amount of stained glass and some really lovely architecture, all placed within a thin strip of the riverside which adds to the cozy aesthetic.
The sun was shining for Elly’s arrival and for all of the day to come! The bridal party entered the church and the ceremony commenced with big smiles.
After the vows concluded, the wedding guests exited the church and proceeded to Sapori, the site of the first date Dom and Elly had! It was a really sweet and sentimental touch to the day and the guests were clearly delighted by the delicious pizzas going around.
Once the guests had finished their Italian feast, they headed back to Cawood and arrived at Cawood Park for their reception. As the drinks poured, the children went wild, a special shout out to the super dad who features in the highlight reel being ambushed with three children on his back! After a few drinks and chit-chats and with the sun setting, Elly, Dom, and I took the time to head over to the lake for a portrait session. I’m always sure to keep this as fun as possible and I can certainly say that there was big belly laughs all round!
I took more requests throughout the evening and captured all the fun of the dance floor and the mingling moments around as the guests enjoyed meeting old friends and new ones.
The venue did not disappoint with its moody stage light which I really enjoyed working with, especially for the first dance and the later dance with her father.
The cake had a massive wow-factor and even more so considering it was made by two sisters who were guests, not wedding cake suppliers but two very talented home bakers.
I wish Dom and Elly all the best in the future and a big thanks for having me at your wedding day!
